Friday Update: The coconut groove drum circle this Saturday has been suspended due to Art Basel coconut groove edition taking the same spot. Hope to reschedule for next month – perhaps next week! I’ll keep you posted@  🙁

I hope you’re enjoying this gorgeous weather here in South Florida!
This weekend make sure you take some time off from Art Basel and all the great art activities and check out the Coconut Grove Drum Circle Saturday December 3, 2011. Beware, this time around it’s starting a little earlier (daylight savings an all…) 7:00 pm – 10:00 pm Streets of Mayfair (on Florida Ave a little east of Rice St) in Coconut Grove. 2834-2844 (approx) Florida Ave in Coconut Grove, FL. Rain or Shine! There are parking garages in the Mayfair complex and on the corner of Oak Street and Mary, and parking lots near the Mayfair as well as parking on the streets. This is a grand location, near the heart of the Grove Art Walk. Bring your hand drums and come celebrate! Magic, joy, and healing power of the drum. Extra drums and other percussion instrument available along with ice water and seating.

– Any snacks, munchables, or drinks to share (not an obligation). There will be a table.
– Your Positive Energy and Smiles!

Kids are totally welcome; but the location is on an unsupervised deepwater shoreline with easy access to the water’s edge. Some parents have found themselves spending all the time watching their kids instead of drumming.

Last but not least, if you happen to be close to Dunedin Florida check out the Enchanted Earth in Dunedin. Casual Drum Circle on Saturday June 25th. It will be from 7pm – ? and held in the stores beautiful SHADED back yard and being that close to the gulf there is usually a very nice breeze. So come on out and let the rhythm of the universe flow through you as we create some beautiful tunes.

This weekend is the Hollywood drum circle and Potluck,  Kirsten & Mark’s Birthday Bash—-Followed By Last Quarter Moon @ UU Church!!! Sunday December 26, 2010. From 3:30 pm – 7:00 pm – Holland Park, 801 Johnson Street. Hollywood, FL 33019. 954-558-7172

Last Quarter Moon Drum Circle Sunday December 26, 2010 –  7:30 pm – 9:30 pm Unitarian Universalist Church of Ft. Lauderdale.   3970 NW 21st Ave. (between Commercial and Oakland Park)   Oakland Park, Fl 33309  954-484-6734 Rain or Shine there will be a Drum Circle. The fire tender will build an awesome fire in the fire pit in the back yard. Drumming will be around the fire – BYO seating.  Bring your Drums, or any Percussion/Musical instrument  (bucket, can, wooden spoons whatever you have). BYO snacks and drinks of your choice. Bathrooms are available inside the Church.  If there is rain or it is ‘hot and humid’ we will be drumming inside the Sanctuary. Sorry… no fire inside the Sanctuary

and as a treat for all of you drum lovers I wanted to thank Mark R for doing such a great recording of the Virginia Key drum circle – I’m including the audio from the event that he captured and uploaded to archive.org. And last but not least, a little video from the same event captured while playing a djembe – Don’t do it at home, leave that to the professionals!
