I also wanted to share the release of a new project called loudestreviews.com It’s main purpose is share musical instrument reviews with all the musicians and community. We have produced two djembe reviews, one from the Toca Black mamba and another one for the Meinl African djembe. I invite you to check them out and to suggest any other instrument you might want to see reviewed.

Last Sunday, Mohamed was able to give me some of his time after teaching a dance workshop on Traditional African dance at the African heritage center for the South Florida dance collective.

Matthew Hill is the musical director of Delou african ensemble. Delou was created by Njeri Plato-Dioubate in 1987. One of its main objectives was to portrait and preserver African culture and music, traditional and contemporary in this side of the Atlantic.

Matthew took some time after extensive playing that afternoon to do this interview. He talks about his musical background, some of his colleagues and teachers, performing as a djembe player as well as his experience in Africa.

Jana Broder is a drum facilitator from Tampa Florida and the owner of drummagic.net. Ten years ago, she attended a class on african drumming and got so hook, that she became a drum facilitator.
She attended Paralounge and was kind enough to give us some of her time for this interview.

Buddy Helm has being playing drums for all his life. Traditionally trained in the drum set, he played with legends such as Tim Buckley and Peter Ivers, inventor of the new wave theatre, as well as many other Los Angeles bands. He is an educator and author of several books: The Way of the Drum and Drumming the Spirit to Life: Let the Goddess Dance. He attended Paralounge for two healing workshops. Here are some fragments of an interview that I was able to do.

Paralounge was a great drum gathering with lots of djembes and friendly drum enthusiast from all over Florida. This is the first interview I’m posting exclusively here at miamidrums.com – Clint had donated some of his time for this short clip. Thank you again for everything Clint!
