It has been a while from last post. Miami Drums had entered a hiatus mode for the last couple months which we’re trying to recover from. Hopefully you never stopped drumming.
There is an update on Delou’s on going classes schedule for 2014. They are hosting Wednesday classes until January 15th at the Little Haiti cultural center:
Beginners Community African Dance, Drum & Music Class Offers: Technique, Coordination Balance and Cultural & Self Expression
Pretty sure you have noticed how the weather has been treating us in the last couple of weeks. Tomorrow, if weather allows, the Coconut Groove drum circle continues its expansion into more drums and music. They’re going back to their previous location at the Mayfair promenade. Be sure to check miamidrums.com drum page and check it out.
This time around the Full moon comes in the middle of the week – June Monday 4th – some people plan to go to the beach this weekend instead – watch out for some showers, or perhaps wait until the end of the week (The moon would still be bright and high up in the sky for a nice drum circle)
Regardless of what you choose, don’t forget to keep playing and enjoy.
It’s that time of the month when you can’t avoid having your hands drum to everything in your surroundings!
This Saturday be sure to check out the Coconut Groove drum circle :Mayfair Promenade (Florida Ave & Rice St) in Coconut Grove, starts at 7 PM. Check out its page from the Miamidrums.com menu.
The Full moon drum circle is this Sunday 6th of May, but I can confess without hesitation that the party would start on Friday and extend to Saturday as well. We’re very fortunate here in Florida for this magnificent weather! Let’s keep our fingers crossed for great weather this weekend.
Last, but not least, if you happen to be around the Orlando area, make your way to the Brewery for a Full moon drum circle celebration! Orlando Brewery 1301 Atlanta Ave. It starts at 8PM
I hope you’re ready for the next couple of days events.
First off, the Full moon drum circle is tomorrow Friday April 6, 2012. Hopefully we’ll get some clear and breeze skies for the full moon spectacle.

20th Paralounge Drum Gathering April 27-29, 2012 Camp Kiwanis Silver Springs Florida.
$55.00 per person ( children 12 & under are free!) Pay upon arrival…
Last drum circle was interesting. There was a nice crowd of drummers [perhaps acoustics are not the greatest, since it’s hard for people to hear each other in open spaces] but the energy kept flowing and crowds were changing constantly.
This Saturday March 3 check out the Coconut Groove Drum circle:
From 7 to 10 Pm. Seating is mostly provided. You should bring your drum- some extra might be available- Mayfair Promenade (Florida Ave & Rice St) in Coconut Grove, FL
Not sure If I’d be able to make it to this one, but if you can, make it the very best yet!
I hope you are doing good. This weekend make sure you take your drumming hands to the Coconut Groove drum circle. It’s always a lot of fun and this time parallel to the Full moon Miami celebration.
We will be drumming and dancing, this Saturday 4th of February, in the open air at the Mayfair in the Grove, located at the corner of Grand Avenue and Mary Street. We will drum in the Promenade, in the open area near Florida Street Mayfair entrance, across the Promenade from the Music Conservatory, in the same open area where we met in October. There are parking garages in the Mayfair complex and on the corner of Oak Street and Mary, and parking lots near the Mayfair as well as parking on the streets. We will light up the night and rev up the energy of the Grove Art Walk. Come, and discover or rediscover the magic, joy, and healing power of the drum. Extra drums and other percussion instrument will be available along with water and seating. All you need to bring are happy hands. It starts at 7 PM until 10PM.
Then you can head straight to the Miami Beach Full moon celebration at its usual time and place. Check Miamidrums.com menu on the left for it’s exact time and place. Be aware that since this drum circle is on a Saturday, attendees numbers might be massive!
Some people also attend the day before, Friday, celebration.
Regardless of what you chose to do, don’t stop the drumming.
Friday Update: The coconut groove drum circle this Saturday has been suspended due to Art Basel coconut groove edition taking the same spot. Hope to reschedule for next month – perhaps next week! I’ll keep you posted@
